이번 오피스 프로젝트는 시애틀의 아마존 본사에 있는 ‘The Spheres’ 에서 많은 영감을 받았다. ‘The Spheres’은 중심으로 끌어당기는 힘을 가지고 있고, 자체적인 자연 친화적 공간에 주위를 둘러싸고 있는 건물들 속에서 조화를 이루고 있다. 이에 더해서 시스템 내에서 아무런 방해 요인 없이 공간 자체적으로 방문객들을 수용하고 있다.
이러한 중앙 공간의 개념을 오피스 프로젝트에 적용시키기 위해 식물 정원을 건물 중앙에 위치시키고 이 정원이 위쪽의 오피스와 아래쪽의 상업 공간에 조화를 이룰 수 있게 하고자 했다. 1층에서부터 쇼핑몰, 그리고 중앙 정원까지 이어지는 에스컬레이터로 방문객들이 자연스럽게 이동할 수 있는 동선을 마련했다. 이 건축물이 테헤란로 속 회사원들의 자연 친화적인 하나의 허브가 될 수 있게끔 하고자 했다.
I decided to refer to the Seattle Spheres by Amazon into my office building project. The Spheres achieves what I strive for the most in my office: gravitation towards the center, and the harmony between the surrounding office building and the biome itself. It also accomplishes to bring visitors in without any disruption within the system.
To achieve this gravity, I placed the botanical garden in the center, and let it harmonize with the upper office mass and the commercial mass below. The smooth flow of visitors is fulfilled by installing escalators that lead from floor1 all the way through the shopping mall to the garden in the center. This building will play a role as a nature hub for the workers in Teheran-ro.
